This allowed me to do some intense experimentation without worrying about wasting ink, paper or life of the printer. Thanks Epson and Dano SteinhardtĮpson was gracious enough to send me a 3880 for review as well as a wide selection of papers (which I’ll discuss in a future article) and extra ink.

With that in mind, I believe this is the Epson product that many of my readers would seriously consider to begin the exciting journey to printing their own work, so I felt it was the best product to review.
#About epson 3880 printer pro
The unscientific data that I have on printer sales suggests that the 3880 (and its predecessor the 3800) has been an extremely popular printer with pro photographers and advanced amateurs. In thinking about which of those printers would appeal to the majority of my readers the most, I felt that the Epson Stylus® Pro 3880 was the best choice. In June I introduced you to the wide selection of Epson Stylus® Pro printers available for photographers in my Choosing the right Epson printer article. *** Warm and cool split-tone, change black ink for matte or gloss printing, can also print digital negatives.Copyright © Ronald R. Use 3800-3880-PiezoDN-P2 curve folder for digital negatives with this inkset.

** NO need to change black ink, can also print digital negatives. Use 3800-3880-PiezoDN curve folder for digital negatives with this inkset. * Change black ink for matte or gloss printing. Verify that you have a perfect nozzle check pattern before printing images.Follow this by printing another gradient to make sure color is gone before printing images. If color staining is present, do another Power Clean Cycle or a few regular cleaning cycles. Yellow, which is the worst for color staining, will show up in the highlights. Print a nozzle check to make sure all positions are fully printing, then print a test gradient and examine it for color staining. Perform 3 Power Clean Cycles after installing carts to purge color ink and get Piezography ink from carts to the print head.Follow this by lifting up on the back of all carts, then close the cartridge bay door. If this is the case, open the cartridge bay door, then push firmly on the cartridge that is not being recognized. If you see a red light or cartridge error on the LCD at this point, one or more chips has not been recognized or seated correctly. When it stops, the green power light should be on and “ready” displayed on the printer LCD panel.

#About epson 3880 printer software
This software has quickly become a defacto utility for anyone wanting to properly color manage their printing workflow. Additionally, Piezography on the Mac requires the use of Print-Tool. We provide our own guides to our suggested use of QuadToneRIP, so that you can get the best results from that product. Installation instructions and support of that software is provided by the manufacturers of those software. Most Piezography systems depend upon the QuadtoneRIP software with which to control the ink shades. You must refer to the shade placement chart provided here on this document. Whether you use refillable cartridges, CIS, or pre-filled cartridges (available outside the USA), the placement of the shades of Piezography ink are critical and not arbitrary.

If you lost your refillable cartridge instructions, please go to our main support page to view the cartridge instructions. If you are installing user refillable cartridges, please refer to the installation instructions provided with the refillable cartridges. If you are installing a Continuous Ink System (CIS), please refer to the installation instructions provided with the CIS. Use these procedures to convert your color printer to a Piezography printer.
